From Illness to Health
Prophet Sulaiman – Solomon (asws) was the first human to maintain a garden with medicinal plants. He (asws) also kept a library in which these plants were described. This knowledge was then spread among humanity. The modern medical world is based on the knowledge of our ancestors and through the study of the human body and plants. A person is permitted by the Creator (swt) to seek relief from his/her ailments and healing. In fact, it is recommended to seek healing and knowledge regarding this matter. Beyond tangible medicine, there is another remedy — one that requires faith in the Creator (swt). Asking for healing from and placing trust in the Creator (swt) is the highest form of medicine. Indeed, the world is filled with Angels (asws), and they visit people and heal them by the command of the Creator (swt). This form of healing carries a great reward because of the faith in the Almighty (swt). There are various causes for illness: committing a sin, knowledge, forgiveness from the Creator (swt), and other reasons known only to the Creator (swt). Therefore, it is wise for a person to ask daily for forgiveness from the Creator (swt) and to sin as little as possible. Have you noticed that the Prophets (asws) and holy people did not fall ill easily and recovered more quickly? The Creator (swt) heals people every single day. Every day, people rise from their hospital beds and their homes because they have been healed or helped. Believers and non‑believers alike — the Creator (swt) is precise and compassionate. When you reflect on it, these are all miracles. You may seek medicine, but you can also pray for a miracle, for healing, and for help — just as the Prophet Ayoub (Job), peace be upon him, once did.
